United Nations of Camino

The long, rocky miles pass quickly when I’m hiking with lovely folks from all over the world.

This rowdy group is composed of Vivek from India/Dubai, Jocelyn and Sarah from New Zealand, Isairo and Luis from Brazil, and a California gal. We had such fun chatting about our countries, where we have hiked, and what inspired us to walk the Camino.

The stork nests that sit atop nearly every church we pass are another bonus of walking the quiet Meseta.

Here are a few favorite photos of the past couple of days:

There was a video taken of me receiving my pendant from Sister Ernestina. (Thank you, Mary!) I had no idea I was being recorded, but I’ll treasure the memory of this moment ❤️

Buen Camino, everyone! Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. 😘

I loved reading United Nations of Camino and how hiking the Camino brought people from many places together to share laughter, stories, and culture as they walked those long dusty paths. Once when school stress was heavy I even had to ask someone to take my online Mathematics exam because I was so nervous about timing and concepts, and that help gave me a bit of calm to focus on learning. That made me think about how the Camino and our challenges both show that support and shared moments can turn tough days into memories we carry forward.

I read the United Nations of Camino post about walking with friends from many countries on the Camino and how meeting so many people makes the miles seem easier and more fun. I once went on a long school walk with classmates and we laughed and shared snacks while we tried to keep going, and I even used online course takers to help me manage my study time during that busy week when everything felt hard. It made me think that journeys are better when we share them and learn from each other’s stories.

Susan, you are truly blessed to be hiking among such beauty - poppies, storks, and unique chapels! I especially love the video of you receiving a new pendant from that special nun. Enjoy your journey as you hike alongside pilgrims from around the globe. Buen Camino! 🇪🇸😁

I had not cried on this journey until Sister Ernestina’s blessing. ❤️

Looks like a fun and lively group of pilgrims! You standing among the poppies is a great shot, but my first reaction was uh-oh, Wizard of Oz vibes. 😂

Beautiful photos. Red poppies, friendly folks and blue skies certainly ease every step. 😎
