The miles have been long, rainy and beautiful. Thankfully, the trails are muddy, but manageable. Tiny villages that usually include treasured chapels greet us every few miles. The cafes are few and far between, but that makes them even more special when one appears and we inevitably see a familiar face and stop to have a cafe con leche and compare experiences of the trail.
Yesterday was a challenge:

We spotted an artist’s studio on the way in to Ferreira. Jose was charming and had a beautiful collection of jewelry, sculptures and paintings. I bought a little painting celebrating the Primitivo.
As we rested at a cafe in the middle of today’s walk, we watched cows being herded through the village.
The tone of the hike will change drastically tomorrow as we join the crowds on the Frances. We plan to embrace the party energy. Buen Camino!
Primitivo highlights:
Lunch yesterday with Rachel and Oliver
Enjoying a cup of coffee/tea today with Dani
Enjoying a beer after an 18+ mile day
Quiet rooms
Rain jackets
Knees and backs adjusting to the demands of the trail
Hemingway short stories to listen to and discuss as we hike

I'm looking forward to hearing how the Primitivo and the Frances compare! Love the photos. Those cows are magnificent! 😲
