We have arrived in Lugo, a beautiful small city with a historic center surrounded by a Roman wall. A UNESCO heritage site. Today we will find a laundromat, tour the cathedral, walk along the top of the wall, and find some churros and chocolate. We are in need of a day off after the recent mountainous paths that challenged us. The stages ahead promise to be gentler, thank goodness.
Perry spotted the gorgeous red legged partridge above as we hiked along yesterday.
We decided to spare our aching legs a bit by taking a taxi for the second part of our hike. Our taxi driver, Mario, has relatives who live just a few miles from our home! It’s such a small world.
Later…
A quiet rainy Sunday in Lugo proved a perfect Camino break. We strolled to the cathedral and toured the museum. Later, we were lucky enough to reunite with Jose from Tijuana, Oliver who lives in France and his sister Rachel who lives in New Zealand. We all happened to be walking the top of the Roman wall at the same time. Hopefully, we will meet again tomorrow along the way.
The final 100km await. We will savor our final few days hiking into Santiago.
