The encouragement of our fellow pilgrims has been key to our forward progress. It seems like just when we are feeling bone tired and the end of the day feels far away we inevitably have a moment of connection with another hiker that lifts our spirits.

The last couple of days included tough climbs and even tougher descents, but we were rewarded with spectacular views.

Blisters and sore knees and shoulders have altered our plans a bit, but I’m proud of our ability to pivot. Yesterday, after 15 miles, we decided to spare our knees and take a taxi to our final destination 2 miles away. Knee braces are now part of our arsenal of equipment. Lots of our fellow pilgrims are battling similar ailments and sharing strategies. We are bonding through our struggles.

Thankfulness list:

The moment of connection yesterday with Matthew and Anton from Poland

Sharing lunch and spectacular views with the crew

The adorable dog who insisted on belly rubs

Reuniting with folks we haven’t seen for a couple of days

Perry and Fran discussing Don Quixote

The weather looks good for today and we will leave the steep hills behind in the next couple of days.

Buen Camino!
