Falls and a Taxi

Another sleepless night left me wobbly and with low energy. I thought I could muscle through, but my lack of concentration resulted in a small fall and then a bigger tumble. I was fine, but my confidence was compromised so Perry arranged to have a taxi meet me in Campaniello to take me the final 8 miles to my hotel.
Perry had decided to tackle the infamous Hospitales Route that features a huge climb to a remote ridge line. The route meant that he would wind up in a different village than mine and he would need to find a place to sleep. He didn’t see another person for miles after beginning his ascent, the free roaming horses his only company. The fog obscured the dramatic views and also made the trail a challenge to navigate safely. He finished the hike after 25 miles and found an alburgue with a bunkbed in a room with 10 other pilgrims.
Perry’s epic hike mileage meant that I needed to catch up with him today while he took a zero day in Berduceo.

A great night’s sleep and I felt ready for a solo hike. The Camino Primitivo is by far the least traveled Camino I’ve experienced. I only saw eight other hikers all day. The isolation also meant no services for most of the day. That made it even sweeter when I spotted the mobile cafe at the summit. Samwell and Armando let me know I was their third customer of the day. I had cafe con leche and a cookie, and Armando gave me a hug and pointed me in the right direction.
Perry and I are now in the same location and looking forward to tomorrow’s hike. There’s rain in the forecast. We are ready for it!
Buen Camino

I'm so glad to hear that you and Perry are having your own individual adventures! 🥰
