Hailey is our Camino birthday girl so she made all of the tough decisions: when to rest our weary legs, where to have a delicious lunch, and what extra activities we might work in to our journey. Hailey’s birthday began at the hotel in which we were “Most Likely to be Murdered” (Hailey’s designation😂) with an ice-cold shower and questionable breakfast.

We began our journey with a long uphill climb out of a rocky gorge up to a tiny chapel carved into a cliff. Hailey discovered that there’s a museum dedicated to the history of the Beast of Gévaudan, a wolf-like creature that terrorized the region hundreds of years ago. She decided it was a mandatory stop. It was cheesy and fabulous simultaneously.

Falls - 0! 🥳

Sunburns - Hailey/1, Kelli/ TBD, Susan/0

Hailey’s birthday wish coming true - a hot shower at our cute gîte, lots of beautiful toilettes along our path, and a surprise birthday serenade from our fellow pilgrims!

New friends - 1! We have enjoyed our time with Jan Lykle from Arnhem, Netherlands.

The birthday festivities continued Sunday morning when we came across a crepe truck along our path to Saint Albon. Delicious!

The HSNY Library is located on the fifth floor link of the General Society Building on Midtown's historic "club row." From its double-height arched windows, patrons can enjoy views of the Harvard Club of New York City, where HSNY holds its link annual Gala. The library also serves as an educational exhibition and special events space for the link Society. On staff is HSNY's full-time librarian, Dr. Miranda Marraccini, ready to assist with research requests.

What wonderful twists and turns and magical places you have visited. Stained glass in a rock church, les betes that are not there, tree roots above ground, treacherous paths. You have passed the hurdles tests. Enjoy the rest that is to come. With lots of love. 😍
