I had a muddy 12 mile hike yesterday and was such a mess by the end! I didn’t see another pilgrim for the first 3 hours or so, but this adorable, muddy dog appeared out of nowhere and insisted on guiding me! He knew every single turn for miles and miles. I didn’t want him to get lost; I didn’t encourage him or offer food, but he insisted. He would run up ahead and then look back for me. If I wasn’t hiking fast enough, he would run back and check in with me before leading the way. His collar read “Houdini.” His owner finally caught up with us on a bike to retrieve him and told me that Houdini loves leading folks and knows the path perfectly! I was so relieved and grateful for Houdini’s guidance and happy he’d soon be home safe and warm.

Camino Countdown:

Falls - 0! (One muddy slip, but no fall)

Blisters - 0!

Taxi or bus rides - 0

Muddy dog guides -1, adorable Houdini

Hours without seeing anyone - 3

Theories debunked-1 (I decided to wear bright orange and blue so I would stand out amongst the pilgrims usually dressed all in black. I wanted to be easily identifiable in case I went missing. Perry could ask about an old gal in bright colors. Well, everyone I see seems to have had the same idea! I guess it’s an orange and blue theme for the Camino 2024. 😉)

I have a short, steep 8 mile hike to a village called Beduer today. I hope for a drier trail at least. I figured out how to add a web-link to my blog. Here’s my destination for today….

Enjoying each step of my journey. Thanks for your encouragement, friends and family.

Bon Chemin/Buen Camino!🥾🇫🇷🥖☔️🌦️❤️

What resonates with link me about the older pieces are the small bands and the small cases. I love a small case and small dial. I just link feel like that's a little bit more simplistic and link just aesthetically awesome.

Hi Susan! Katy and I are enjoying your blog. Her comment is:

Hi Suz. Patrick shares his blog about you with me! Although I hope you don’t have too many alone hours. Stacy did a great job reviewing her book, ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’, today. (No Kelly, Marleen, Sharon, or Dotty.) I’ll call in a few days. Hola to the doggies. Love, Katy Mouse

Hi, Patrick and Katy! ❤️

I’m glad to hear the meeting went well. I just started reading it and I’m enjoying it so far.

There are SO many beautiful cows here who watch me hike by. I say “Bonjour!” to them so I am a polite American lady. I will say “hola” as well to the doggies for you! Talk soon. 😘🇫🇷

Thank you! I was licked in the face yesterday by a black lab named Saxo. What is it with these charming French dogs? 🥰
