A Blessing

When I first hiked the Camino Frances two years ago, I was given a pendant in a tiny church. I was told by the nun who gave it to me that it would help protect me on my Camino. I loved that simple pendant and was so sad when I lost it during my hike of the Camino Portuguese.
I’ve had in the back of my mind for weeks that maybe I’d find that tiny church amongst all the many tiny churches and be given another pendant. I knew it was located somewhere beyond the city of Burgos. I told myself this morning not to be disappointed if I didn’t find the church or if it was closed or if the nun was no longer there.
Today’s hike took me past the grand cathedral of Burgos and out through farmland. I was delighted to see Bennet and Keely riding by after renting bikes for this section. There were many lovely distractions, but I kept searching for that church.
I met and chatted with three great gals, Mary from Utah and sisters Vicky and Teresa from Germany.
The hike was nearly over when I spotted a familiar chapel and heard soft music playing. I’d found it! Not only that, but the darling nun was inside and greeted me warmly asking my name and where I live. I started to cry as she placed my new pendant around my neck and gave me a blessing.

Mary, Teresa, Vicky and I took a photo in front of this special Camino spot. Four happy pilgrims.

My new pendant joins the one given to me when I began my journey in Le Puy all those weeks ago. Camino treasures. ❤️
Sending love from Spain!

I got a blessing from her as well. She was soooo sweet.
The Camino seems to reciprocate what it is given, enjoy!
Thank you for shaing 🤗❤
Another wonderful post! Thank you for sharing and for your beautiful re-telling of this special Camino story. How lovely the same nun was there to greet you. And I know that perfect blue and white cord you brought from CA will keep this pendant safe alongside the one from LePuy! I agree with Dee, your adventure just keeps getting better!! ❤️
That nun and the church were guiding you back! So happy your pendant is replaced and that she was there to give you a blessing. I remember how sad you were after realizing you had lost the first one during our walk last year. Your adventure just keeps getting better! Buen Camino
