I had a lovely stay at a BnB run by Edwidge with help from her daughter Gulia. There was a definite language barrier so we used Google Translate a bit and shared photos and videos on our phones.

Edwidge and Gulia taught me about the different regional dialects; they speak Occitanie which is quite different than the French spoken in other areas. I’m also approaching the Basque region which has a complex ancient language.
Camino Countdown and Observations:
Falls or slips in the past 3 days: 0
Crepes eaten: 1 (extraordinary!)
Clever cafes: 1 that had booties for the muddy pilgrim shoes.
What I love about French culture:
1-Almost everyone says “bonjour” as they pass others on the trail or street.
2-Almost everyone says “bon appetit” when they notice someone eating, even just peanuts beside the trail.

Santiago De Compostela is coming into the trail marker language more frequently as I approach the Pyrenees and the border with Spain. One week until I climb! I’m savoring these final days in France. I’ve loved it here.
Bonsoir!🇫🇷❤️🇪🇸

The crepe with egg looked fantastic. And a glass of milk! From local cows? What lovely hostesses. Enjoy! 😁🦋❤️
