Two days in Porto

A nation-wide rail strike nearly derailed our progress yesterday, but luckily we arrived at the station early enough to be shuffled on to the only train headed to Porto.
Our primary mission upon arrival was to obtain a Pilgrims Passport for Dee. This booklet is used to collect stamps along the Camino to prove you've walked the necessary distance to be awarded a Compostela certificate.
We celebrated Dee becoming an official pilgrim by standing in front of the first Camino marker of our trek.
Today we explored this beautiful city, stretching our legs in preparation for our first big hike tomorrow. We saw the gorgeous old train station covered with traditional tiles, then wandered down along the Douro River finding the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of Port.

We continued along the river walking from bridge to bridge, eventually stopping for water at a restaurant. Heading up a very long, steep series of stone steps on our way back to the hotel, Susan realized she'd lost her wallet. Ack! We all retraced our steps in panic back to the restaurant where, thankfully, her wallet was waiting next to the cash register. We had added at least a mile to our journey. Was the Port to blame for this escapade?
This Strava map reveals our winding, chaotic path:

Keeping Count:
Pasteis de Nata - 5 for each of us (The best were at Time Out Market in Lisbon)
Falls - 0! 💃
Lost items - 2 hotel keycards and 1 wallet
We are so excited to officially begin our Camino tomorrow morning. Please send good vibes and positive energy.

Can't wait for the next update! Thanks for sharing your adventures. We are sending tons of love, good vibes and positive energy your way!
You three are just beautiful! Keep on trekking, drinking and eating.
You are all up to the challenging and beautiful days ahead!
I hope the red poppies are still in bloom. And the cork trees are amazing.
Wow, you had quite an adventure in Porto. Glad it all worked out. I wish all three of you best wishes for a successful Camino! 🇵🇹
Sounds like a lemons to lemonade kind of day. So glad you three are positive, and easy going! Keep enjoying the journey.
