I brought about 90 little bracelets to give out to folks I met along the way. They’re super simple, with the year and some Camino symbols printed on them. There’s also a message I found that suited the tone of the hike:

“A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles.” I also included my blog address. I wasn’t sure if my fellow pilgrims would want them, but they’ve become popular! I’m down to my final 9.

Yesterday, I hiked the last miles into Leon with Justin and Natalie from Australia. Justin is a retired police officer and we traded tokens. I will treasure my patch and proudly add it to my backpack decor.

I’ve also loved getting to know Xenia and her son John from New Jersey. The Camino is John’s high school graduation present. How cool is that?

Camino countdown:

Miles hiked - 754.3

Miles to Santiago - 211 🥾

I’m taking a rest day today in Leon, listening to the rain and hoping it eases by tomorrow. I’m feeling generally fatigued, but I’m also elated at the thought of entering the Plaza Obradoiro in front of the Cathedral in Santiago on July 4th.

My shoes are dusty, my feet are callused, my skin is tanned and I’ll keep on hiking! I’ve been singing the score from “Godspell” when I’m walking solo:

Much love to friends and family. ❤️🇪🇸🥾🎶🦋

Susan

Hope you had a good rest day, well deserved after 754 miles!! I especially loved the picture of the Mom and her son celebrating his high school graduation, a new generation of pilgrims!
