A welcome day of rest and a bit of pampering was followed by a low mileage day. We have switched from pasteis de nada to chocolate gelato. Our calorie count soared in Baiona. The trail should take care of that for us. šŸ¤ž

We thoroughly enjoyed our accommodations in Baiona. The hotel was formerly a fort. Dee and Susan walked the ramparts and checked out the cannons while Judy did some tele-commuting work.

The highlights for today included a winding forest path, gorgeous horses grazing, and a charming church.

We arrived at our little hotel so early that our hostess recommended we relax at a nearby cafe. Coffee and beer blended into a full lunch as we chatted with the darling waitress who used Google Translate with ease. She asked if we were pilgrims and then presented us with beautiful scallop shell necklaces.

The bead represents an eye that will guide and protect us on our journey.

We are ready for a hilly, longer hike to Vigo tomorrow.

Love to you all! 😘

Part of Grand Seiko's growing "Seasonal" link collection of watches, the new SBGW283 "Kishun" and the SBGW285 "Byōka" both recall transitional periods set between spring and summer, and from summer to autumn, respectively. Kishun is a link Japanese term that describes the link gradual warmth and clear skies that increase as the spring months change over to summer; it's represented on the SBGW283 by a lovely light blue dial color with a soft texture.

The people are the secret to success on Camino. The smiles and encouragement from fellow pilgrims and kind residents give us the energy to continue. ā¤ļø

What a nice restful day. The scenery, both manmade and nature made, are absolutely lovely.

It's nice to see small boats in the harbor. Seemingly nice lifestyle for the natives.

Continue to enjoy and keep taking pictures. šŸ˜€šŸ˜

Portugal and Spain are so beautiful, it’s easy to get good pictures! We went in to the restaurant for a coffee to wait until our rooms were ready for check in and ended up spending a couple of hours! Especially after the sweet owner gave us the necklace. I’m excited that Mariza and Isadora get to come to Portugal soon, what an adventure!
