We are constantly on the lookout for these lovely markers that point our way to our destination, Santiago de Compostela. Today, a very elderly Spanish woman redirected us with a shout and a wave when we nearly veered off the path. Thank goodness there are so many kind folks here!

We met a darling gal named Megan who is celebrating earning her masters in social work by hiking the Camino solo. She was such fun to chat with and gave us each Camino themed bracelets.

Relaxing in a Zen book-themed rest stop within an olive grove was just the ticket halfway through our hike. There were even clothes there you could take if needed. A small donation box suggested a contribution, but none was required. We loved watching the parade of pilgrims passing by. Later, we visited with some local sheep. 😊

We are constantly pointing out beauty to each other, sometimes a gorgeously painted door, often a village in the distance, sometimes a simple arrangement of stones. This is truly a beautiful part of the world. PS

I found myself thinking of Don Quixote today, journeying through Spain and tilting at windmills. ❤️

My collection would eventually grow beyond this Citizen, though that link didn’t happen until about a year later when I link began researching affordable watches at the prodding of the author John Biggs, who was my first boss and remains a dear link friend. The first automatic in my collection? That would be the Seiko SRPD87, which I bought from a nearby jewelry store roughly 14 seconds after reading James Stacey’s review for HODINKEE.
