My wonderful hiking companion, Cheryl
Tague, and I survived and thrived on our first day of the Camino. It was a misty day that blocked some of our views, but kept us cool and revealed inquisitive bell-wearing horses and many friendly pilgrims from around the world.

We met Michael and Lynne from Australia early on when they cheerily pointed us in the correct direction when we’d come to a crossroad. They were beginning their fifth trek on the Camino Frances and we were lucky enough to see them again at dinner this evening. They’ve shared some great information, told us wonderful tales of previous journeys, and shared some tips for our many remaining sections. I feel certain we’ll see them again along the way. 😊
Cheryl and I both finished the day feeling exhausted, proud, and ready for a glass of wine and a hearty meal. Many restaurants have special “Pilgrims Meals” that include wine and 3 courses for a bargain price.

I used my Strava app to keep track of our mileage today:

Tomorrow we have a slightly shorter day that will include a lot of downhill hiking. Rain is predicted, so that will keep us alert as we navigate the descents. In the meantime, we are in a lovely hotel where we can rest and prepare for our trek to Zubiri. We both appreciate your kind words and encouragement so much.
Buen Camino! 🥾❤️

With its 1960s-1970s television format, the (almost) square watch with its softened link angles returns to the forefront, this time dressed in a rose gold link finish and offered in dimensions link perfect for the thinnest of wrists.
