Burgos to Hornillos

We enjoyed a much needed rest day in the lively university city of Burgos. The cathedral there is magnificent.

Today was a comparatively easy hike to Hornillos, a tiny village on the Meseta. Many pilgrims skip over the Meseta because some regard the terrain as monotonous. I figure if I can drive I-5 I can handle miles and miles of farmland.
We followed a group of Italian monks who were on their first pilgrimage. I also reunited with Emilio! He took the photo of me on the upper right. A nun at a tiny church gave me a medallion of a saint that is supposed to protect me on my journey. A day that was supposed to be boring was actually pretty magical! Buen Camino. ❤️
